What Is Superstitions???

Definition:

Superstition is a credulous belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge. The word is often used pejoratively to refer to folk beliefs deemed irrational, which is appropriate since irrational means "not based on reason". This leads to some superstitions being called "old wives' tales". It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luckprophecy and spiritual beings, particularly the irrational belief that future events can be foretold by specific unrelated prior events.

Examples Of Malaysian Superstitions:

1. If baby kicks a lot, it's a boy. (Malay)
2. If hears an owl, it's a girl. (Malay)
3. Pineapple is a sign of good fortune. (Chinese)
4. Number '4' must be avoided because it is similar tone to the character of 'death'. (Chinese)
5. Thursday is a bad day to washing one's hair. (Indian)

Opinion regarding superstitions:

For my opinion, superstitions can be like a part of entertainment to make happiness and maybe to put concerns to the listeners whether we already know that all the superstitions are nonsense, but as a Muslim, superstitions are against our religions because Allah who the one we should refer to not to these nonsense superstitions because Allah is our creator, and most of the superstitions are not been created by Him but by 'human intelligence'.
